The Girls Basketball team came out with a win against Williamsport last night. Walkersville came out strong but the entire game was pretty close and ended the game winning by 6, 45-39.

The Lady Lions have had a record of 10-1 so far this season and plan on continuing the great streak. This team has a lot of chemistry and claims they are “family.” The girls were confident to face Williamsport.

On Monday before the game Senior Ana Taylor says, “Williamsport  is a good team all together and it should be a good game. Over the past week our team had some difficulties and miscommunications, which all teams go through, but we had a player meeting that would insure that we are ready for Tuesday. I feel pretty confident and ready to take on Williamsport.

“With two good and well coached teams, you never know what the outcome of the game will be. It’s between heart and hustle and which team is ready to play. I just suggest that everyone be there tomorrow to support us with Walkersville pride.”

First quarter Lions came out strong, starting was Maddie Hommey, Mackenzie White, Arionna Johnson, Mckenzie Mathis, and Ana Taylor.

Second half the game continued to stay a close game.. In the end Williamsport really worked hard to come back but the Lions shut them down and made sure they were ending with a win.

Senior Mackenzie White said, “I think we played really well as a team; our chemistry was the highest it’s been all season and it really showed on the court. One thing that we struggled with was boxing out and rebounding but we can work on it in practice and do better when we play Middletown tomorrow.”

Junior Maddie Hommey said, “Well last week and for a while we have really been struggling, we were getting good results but not playing the best. Last night we came together and had a really good team win. We’re successful when we play together and encourage each other, which is what we did last night.”

Senior Mckenzie Mathis said, “I think last night was a great team win overall. We held them to 39 points which is a testament to our defensive effort. Our team chemistry improved greatly and it showed on the offensive end of the court. The only struggle we had was getting out-rebounded on a few possessions but other than that we played well. We’re looking forward to playing our rivals tomorrow night!”
